Since 2019 when I started writing and posting fic again, all my fics have been posted straight to AO3, and linked to from my DW journal, unfeathered, (mirrored on LJ).

I have also now copied over to AO3 all my older fics, with links back to wherever they were originally posted (either in this comm or, further back, on unfeathered) so I don't lose track of all the lovely comments and fascinating meta discussions.

Author's note: I first posted this fic on 20 August 2007. I posted another 11 chapters (and a couple of extra ficlets) up to November 2008 and then never quite finished and posted the final two chapters. I now aim to rectify that!

Before I get to the new chapters, though… In 2012 I did some work on the first two chapters, to make them work better in light of where the fic had gone after I'd originally written them. Again, I never posted those amendments but finally - finally! - they are going to see the light of day! Amended Chapter 1 here, and Chapter 2 will hopefully follow shortly.

Note on dates: Probably, no-one will care but… This series, apart from Part 1 here, basically takes place between The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords. When I wrote this, the best dating I could find for election day was Thursday 23 October 2008. Nowadays, the consensus seems to be May 2008, but I don't feel it's worth re-editing the whole series to try and fit in around that, so I'm sticking with the Year That Never Was going from October to October.
